Foreigners who come to Ukraine for the purpose of carrying out volunteer activities and have a residence permit are considered to be those who legally stay in Ukraine for the duration of such activities.

According to Article 5 of the Law of Ukraine "On Volunteer Activities", only non-profit organizations may recruit a foreign volunteer. A foreigner can stay in Ukraine with a visa-free entry for up to 90 days within 180 days per year. If a foreign volunteer stays longer, he must obtain a long-term visa D10. In order to obtain a residence permit, a foreigner must first open a D10 volunteer visa and apply for a residence permit.

If the organization engaging foreigners to carry out voluntary work is not entered in the Register, the foreign volunteer will not be able to obtain a visa as well as a residence permit.
