Volunteering is a form of charity carried out by individuals or organizations for the benefit of society. The purpose of volunteering is to achieve socially important goals voluntarily and unselfishly.

Voluntary work is charitable and non-profit. It is based on the principles of humanity, equality, voluntariness and legality. It consists in the performance of work or services free of charge.
Volunteer activities are carried out in the following areas:

-providing assistance to unemployed, low-income, large families and homeless persons who are in difficult life circumstances and need social rehabilitation;

-provision of volunteer assistance to persons affected by natural or man-made disasters, persons affected during a state of emergency or martial law or during an anti-terrorist operation or activities to ensure national security and national defense;

-care for persons with disabilities, elderly persons living alone and other persons in need of assistance and support due to their physical, material or other characteristics;

-assisting persons with physical or other disabilities who are limited in the exercise of their rights and legitimate interests;

-carrying out volunteer activities related to environmental and natural environment protection, preservation of cultural heritage, historical and cultural monuments, burial sites;

-assistance to people affected by accidents, social conflicts, who are victims of criminal offences, as well as internally displaced persons and refugees;

-support for events of national and international importance related to the organization of cultural, sports, youth and community events;

-assistance in dealing with natural or man-made emergencies;

-provision of volunteer assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, other military formations, state authorities and law enforcement bodies during a special period, state of emergency or martial law, or during an anti-terrorist operation or activities to ensure national security and defense of Ukraine;

-provision of assistance to eliminate the consequences of combat operations, armed conflict, temporary occupation and terrorist act;

-provision of volunteer assistance to overcome the consequences of armed aggression by the Russian Federation or other countries against Ukraine, as well as for post-war reconstruction and development of Ukraine;

-assistance to persons who find themselves in difficult life circumstances due to the harm caused by military actions, armed conflict, terrorist act, temporary occupation, armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine;

-providing volunteer assistance to people affected by infectious diseases and epidemics;

-carrying out activities aimed at the social adaptation of persons who have served a sentence of restriction or imprisonment for a certain period, as well as those released from further serving of sentences on the grounds provided by law;

-providing volunteer assistance related to animal rescue and protection.
Volunteer assistance can be provided in other ways, as long as they are not prohibited by law. Activities can be carried out online and through other telecommunication networks.
