According to Article 7 of the Volunteer Act, a volunteer has certain rights and duties. A person engaged in charitable work has the right to:
- proper conditions in providing volunteer assistance, obtaining full and reliable information about the conditions and procedure of volunteering activities, the volunteer must be provided with special equipment and gear, as well as protective equipment;
- reimbursement of expenses related to the volunteer activity;
- crediting the time of the volunteer activity to the practical training, if this corresponds to the focus of the specialty, as well as with the consent of the educational institution;
- other rights stipulated in the volunteering agreement and the law.
It should be noted that the Act defines the following duties of a volunteer:
- to fulfil the duties associated with volunteering in a timely and conscientious manner;
- undergo further training or retraining if necessary;
- comply with the legal regime for restricted information;
- undergo medical care and provide a health certificate in cases determined by law;
- not engage in conduct or actions that may negatively affect the reputation of the volunteer, institution or organization;
- indemnify for direct damages, in the case of a volunteer contract and unilateral termination of the contract by the volunteer, if provided for in the contract;
- in accordance with the law, to compensate for property damage incurred in the performance of volunteer activities.
